2016 contractor standards required to become a program approved contractor with the
Florida Energy Discount Program.

  1. All contractors must submit current licensing information.
  2. All contractors must submit and allow Energycensus.org to be a listed beneficiary on insurance and bonding for the licensing.
  3. All contractors must have a minimum of $2,000,000.00 of liability coverage.
  4. All contractors must submit to criminal back ground checks. (all employees)
  5. All contractors must submit to drug testing. (all employees)
  6. All contractors must be BPI Accredited.
  7. All contractors must have one BPI Certified Professional on staff as an employee. (Certified Professional =an individual who successfully passes the BPI written and field examination requirements for certification.)
  8. All contractors must be RESNET Accredited.
  9. All contractors must have one RESNET Certified Professional on staff as an employee. (Certified Professional =an individual who successfully passes the RESNET written and field examination requirements for certification.)
  10. All contractors must prove to be financial sound.
  11. All contractors must have bank financing options for potential Energy Census referrals.
  12. All contractors must be in good standing with the better business bureau.
  13. All contractors will submit retail pricing for approval and not use any other pricing.

Upon acceptance of your application you will be required:
  1. Use BPI and RESNET approved technologies to determine need for home improvements.
  2. Use products that meet the department of energy guidelines.
  3. Have a customer service agent available to handle all customer needs 6 days a week – 12 hours per day.

Program can be cancelled at any time without written or verbal notice. Discount vouchers are a discount on products and services and will not be reimbursed in any way.


All contractors established with the program from 2011-2013 will be grandfathered into the program. We do require all the above contractor requirements to be submitted and maintained.
